The only downside? Some apartments in this area come with higher prices due up front which may not be ideal if you’re living paycheck-to-paycheck like many people do these days.

German Village

German Village offers a different vibe from that of The Short North (but still hip) with tree-lined streets, historic architecture and plenty of green space. There is also an eclectic mix of shops for adults and kids alike – all within walking distance from your home! One downside? Rent prices are higher here than in other neighborhoods which may not be ideal, but sometimes you have to pay for location. Plus, the unique neighorhood vibe and incredible location on the South side of Downtown are well worth the price. If you visit, be sure to check out Schiller Park.

Clintonville

Clintonville has plenty of its own benefits. This is a family-focused neighborhood with local parks, lovely tree-lined streets that don’t get nearly as crowded as other neighborhoods in the city and an easy commute to downtown Columbus.

Franklinton

Franklinton is especially close to downtown, just across the river to the west, and is a creative hub with all sorts of galleries, artist studios, performance venues, events, restaurants and an assortment of food trucks which creates an eclectic mix of entertainment options. The downside is that it’s a bit less family-friendly than a few of the other areas, as its still in the process of being redeveloped.

Olde Towne East

Olde Towne East is a historic neighborhood with plenty of unique old houses to choose from. A majority of the homes in the area have been recently renovated, and new restaurants are opening up all the time. The downside is that it is now fairly expensive to live here due to all of the renovations, but the upside is that this historic neighborhood will be preserved for future generations to enjoy.
