Harrison West
Harrison West is a historic, urban neighborhood located north and near west of downtown Columbus, Ohio. The neighborhood character is similar to the better-known Victorian Village just to the east. The area is bounded by Harrison Avenue on the east (which runs parallel to Neil Avenue), Goodale on the South, 5th Avenue on the North, and Olentangy River Road to the west (including “Gowdy Field”). In January 2008, the neighborhood expanded to include all of “Thurber Village” to the South East.
The small downtown located within Harrison West has created a vibrant center to the community. Local favorites such as Harrisons on Third and Zenos create a relaxed night life, while, the parks, sidewalks, and cafes create a great sense of community. Real estate in Harrison West is only going up in value, but in some areas it is still affordable for someone strait out of college and there are many rental options available as well.
Harrison West is quietly becoming one of the most desirable areas in downtown Columbus, with a great location to downtown, Ohio State University, Grandview and The Short North arts district it is sure to continue in a positive direction. You can visit the official Harrison Park website here.

Fun Fact: The Harrison West neighborhood area experienced urban decline throughout much of the late 20th century. Just south of Harrison West, the similar “Flytown” was destroyed during “slum clearance” in the 1960s and replaced by Interstate 670.
