Glen Echo is a neighborhood located in the northern part of the University District and just south of Clintonville. The name Glen Echo refers to the Glen Echo Ravine, which runs on the northern edge of the neighborhood. The main streets in the neighborhood include Summit Street, North 4th Street, Glen Mawr Avenue, and Arcadia Avenue. This area is easily accessible by COTA and CABS and soon a bike path.

What’s the Neighborhood Like?
Most of the homes in this area were built between 1909 and 1943. The homes, including Colonial Revival, Shingle-style, and Craftsman-style bungalows, are a mix of single and double units with a high homeowner occupancy rate along grassy boulevards, stone stanchions, and street furniture. The neighborhood is listed on the National Register of Historic Places because of its middle-class development.
Glen Echo Park, dedicated to the City of Columbus, Ohio, for “public park purpose forever” by a plat dated June 24, 1912, runs from the north end of Fourth Street southwest to Indianola Avenue and is commonly described as an urban oasis for residents. The steep wooden banks are covered naturalized native plants along a walkway that runs through the park along the creek.
What’s Going on Nearby the Glen Echo Neighborhood?
Columbus is making a great effort in making Glen Echo a car-free community. As part of the ODTO repaving project, a one-way bike lane will be added to the west side of 4th Street, traveling northbound. A two-way protected cycle track will be added to the west side of Summit between Hudson and the Ohio State University.
